AIR GUITAR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Ever thought about being a rock star but can't play the guitar even if your life depended on it? May be you actually can... at the Air Guitar World Championships!

Who knew that the Air Guitar World Championships held in Finland would shoot to instant fame? So famous is this festival that it has a network of National Championships held in Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, Japan, UK, USA... Do I really have to write down all the countries?

This event takes place annually and attracts a lot of attention, both from the media and rock oriented young people. Last year, the event attracted approximately 5,500 people. Check out our first issue for more of this year's event!

AUSTRALIAN GOTH SCENE

A lot of information reaches the lads and lasses down-under about the various goth scenes around the world but no one really ever talks about the Aussie goth scene. It's a pity actually because I think there is some really awesome stuff about their goth scene.

One thing that strikes me about the Australian Goth Scene is that although many of the Australian goths go out to goth clubs ever so often, they also do a lot of un-goth stuff in their normal lives. It's quite intersting to note that some of them make fun of people who take the scene "too seriously".

Australians tend to like the dress style, the music and the company, but few think it is a reason to conform to certain ideas about the world. Many even consider the idea of stereotypical gothic ideas (the dress, the philosophy) to be counter to what the scene is all about.

The isolation of Australia and the distance from the gothic events that make the media, serve to spur the talented people here to build up and support the local scene, to make a name for themselves and express what they see as gothic.

The Australian Goth Scene is quite unique, quite different from many others that are known around the world. They are actually trying to make a name for themselves, which is pretty cool. Can't wait to discover what else they have. They sure do breed them well down there!

OUR LAUNCH

After one year of intense activity and fashioning this epic magazine to blow you all away, we can confidently say that we are almost ready to launch. We are all pretty stoked about this with merchandise up for grabs with our first issue! You don't want to miss out!

The launch is scheduled to take place soon after the holidays so watch out for the press for further information.

If you missed out on this year's awesome finale of Battle of the Bands which took place at Choices, not to worry. We attended the event and we pretty much covered it. That was one of the biggest battle that has ever been witnessed. It's pretty exciting that the number of heavy metal bands is growing locally.

Keep it dark and brutal, for there can be no other way! \m/
